Wilton iIan and Ron have had many opportunities over the years to become owners of their own practice, both together and individually. For various reasons, the time has never been right.
Finally, however, an opportunity arose just a short distance from our Salisbury office to establish a brand new, independent optical practice in the tiny market town of Wilton, the ancient capital of Wessex. The practice opened on the 1st May 2010, with a view to serving the local community (who currently have to travel into Salisbury or Shaftesbury to get to see an optometrist) and also to be a 'shop window' for the services of lookahead Consulting. We are registered with the GOC and Wiltshire PCT.
As Operations Consultant, Ian has overall responsibility for the development of the practice, including ophthalmic dispensing. While far from perfect at this early stage, the business model has so far demonstrated how establishing a new business in a recession whilst working intelligently with business partners from across the industry has enabled us to turn over an estimated 124% of our total startup investment within three months - on just one or two days testing per week. Within four months, the business was turning a profit.
Wilton i, as the practice is called, is proud to be working closely with service partner EyePlan and technology partner Optos to deliver strong, profitable USPs, differentiating the practice from nearby colleagues. We are a Tom Davies Bespoke practice, and Rodenstock specialists.
